The Eagle is truely an innovative axe if ever there was one , quite typically Grivel . A joy to use with its ergonomically shaped plastic over- mould which insulates your hand from the cold steel of the head . The one piece forged steel adze and pick are durable and offer good positive seurity on easy terrain aswell as making self-arresting an easier proposition . The Eagle also comes with the new "Spring" leash which has a loop which fits over your shoulder and around your chest , attached to this loop is a "Spring" elasticated cord which fits to the axe , and a loop holster for the axe to sit in just above the waist . This enables you to change the axe from left to right hand as you change direction without the chance of dropping it . A great idea !

The Nepal S.A. is a non-technical ice axe ideal for hill walking and general mountaineering. The carbon-steel head features a classically inclined pick with teeth along half its length. The body and pick are hot, drop forged in one piece, then the stamped adze is welded to it. The Ergal shaft surpasses UIAA norms for strength and durability. Comes with rubber grip on lower shaft.
