Black Diamond ATC Guide
The ATC Guide is designed with mountaineering and climbing instructors in mind as it can be used to take two clients up at the same time but with the ability to self lock if one client falls (similar to a Magic plate or Petzl Reverso) The problem with other devices is that if the client is hanging in space and is unable to take the load of the device then it is difficult to unlock and lower the client down.This however is not such a problem with the ATC Guide as it had a small hole for attaching a thin sling or cord to which can be loaded to free the device.
It can also be used as a normal belay device with a single rope or even thin double ropes using the grooves to give extra friction.

This is the new updated version of the classic Reverso. At 72grams it is now lighter and smoother to use. As the name implies the Reverso can be used in 2 different settings. A high friction setting, a low friction setting and also a 'guide' mode which allows the Reverson to be used in a direct belay style but with the ability to self lock while belaying one or two seconding climbers.
The new updated Reverso now comes with carabiner hole at one end so Reverso can be released easily while loaded in Guide mode.

Petzl Grigri
The Grigri is a self-braking belay device much favoured by sport climbers and indoor climbers.
Self-braking system: If the rope suddenly comes under tension(eg in a fall) the cam pivots to pinch the rope, thus helping the belayer stop the climber's fall.
Usage is similar to that of conventional belay devices ie,
Giving/taking slack is done by using both hands to slide the rope through the device,
Falls are held by holding the free end of the rope,
For lowering and abseiling, the rate of descent is controlled by the hand holding the free end of the rope (the rope is released with the handle.
For single rope use only of 10-11mm diameter
